The NEC MultiSync V801-TM is a high-performance 80-inch Full HD touchscreen display designed primarily for professional digital signage applications across retail, corporate, education, and public environments. It features an advanced infrared multi-touch panel supporting up to 6 simultaneous touch points, enabling interactive user experiences with great accuracy and responsiveness.
Software and Operating System Compatibility
Unlike some modern digital signage displays that run a native operating system like Android, the V801-TM does not have an embedded Android OS. Instead, it functions as a sophisticated peripheral that can interface with external computing devices. The touch functionality is handled via USB HID (Human Interface Device) protocol, which means it supports touch input when connected to computers or media players running various operating systems.

In practical terms, this means while the display itself does not run Android, it can be connected to an Android device—such as an Android-based media player or PC—and will accept touch input from that device. However, the touch input on Android is limited to single-touch, as opposed to the native multi-touch capabilities provided by the infrared touch panel when connected to Windows or other compatible OS environments.
External Computing and Expandability
The V801-TM supports integration with external computing modules via its OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) STv2 slot. This allows installation of compatible slot-in PCs or media players, which may run Windows or Linux OS, depending on user preference and application requirements.
If you require a signage display with built-in Android OS, NEC offers alternative models such as the V864Q, which features integrated Android 8.0 for native Android applications, content management, and smart signage functionality without needing external PCs.
